Kids & Tweens Stuff

Our aim is for the children to feel love and have fun as they learn gospel and bible basics in an engaging way. Our aim is for them to have a range of practices that help them experience God - so not only accumulating facts but gaining first hand experiences and having tools/practices to use in life. We provide a broad brush view of God’s relationship with people through Bible stories, which lay the foundations for future spiritual development and more adult understanding of the Bible. Engaging in the full-term justice project is important in our wealthy consumerist setting. The contemplative practices are important in our busy media-crowded world. Participation in all age time is very important to this age group to establish that they are a valued part of the community. All age time also offers the chance to observe and get to know adults outside their immediate family who are trying to live their day-to-day lives according to their beliefs.

Toddlers/preschoolers (18mths to 4/5yrs)

By the time a child has spent a few years in our toddlers’ program our aim is that they will feel loved by and safe with both God and us. We aim for them to enjoy coming to the Sunday gathering and to feel an equal member of it. We aim for them to have some familiarity with Bible stories and Christian practices.

Primary (4/5 to 10yrs)

This time begins learning and formation in earnest. Our aim is for the children to feel love and have fun as they learn gospel and bible basics in an engaging way. Tween’s (10 to 14yrs)

The main aim for the tween’s is the chance for them to start to own faith for themselves. The Sunday program works alongside the bigger tween group. The separate tween time at Red Rooster gives them an enjoyable grown up experience of the gospel. The other parts of the program help them to continue to grow in practices (with primary kids) and listen to and join in debates and workshop on faith issues (adults). The wider tween program teaches practices, engages in short term community (day trips and camps) in order to form a tribe and go deeper and paves the way for baptism or another faith naming ritual as graduation.
