Tuesday Stuff is a gathering of people who draw from a range of Christian spiritual traditions to enable real life change. This is done through learning spiritual practices with others for 6 weeks at a time
The spiritual exercises are designed to help participants reduce stress, and connect more deeply: with themselves, with others, and with God. By drawing from a set of practices each week habits are more likely to form, thus enabling real life change which is the aim of Tuesday Stuff.
There are no requirements to conform to a specific set of beliefs; Solace privileges the Christian tradition. An openness to learn in different ways and move beyond your comfort zone is helpful. Every six weeks, a new set of practices commence.
Some typical spiritual exercises are:
* A water ritual - using water, soap, stones and simple prayers create your own time of renewal.
-
* Meditation walk - practice mindfulness as you walk in the local area.
* Journal Time - reflect on your life with well chosen questions.
-
* Easter reflection - reflect on Jesus sayings from the cross, presented as animations.
After practicing 4 like these for 6 weeks in a row, we then have a night of review and the group discussion helps shape the 4 practices to be used in the next 6 week block.
A simple vegetarian gluten-free meal is offered from 6:30pm for anyone who wants to come and eat with others. At the start of each 6 week cycle this meal is extended to become a Jesus meal (also known as "eucharist" or "communion".) After the practice of the 4 spiritual exercises there is a time focused around a text with group discussion and reflection. The practice of the spiritual exercises is the focus of the night; participants are welcome to come early for dinner and stay later for the text and discussion time also.
